The twister jar is an amazing accessory that does all your thick raw-food blends like hummus, guacamole, nut butters etc. It’s pretty amazing for those of us who try to keep things raw yet can’t spend a ton of time in the kitchen. The Twister Jar makes it quick and easy. Plus it’s simple to clean up.

My Healthy-Food Budget

People often ask me not just how to feed the family better, but how do you afford it? Here are a few more details on how I do this.

I feed a family of 5 (including 1 very hungry teenager) I try as much as possible to cook and feed them on 100% raw organic food. Our weekly budget for food is $250-$300. (I recognize that costs are different in different parts of the world, so this is a relative number.)

This budget also includes household items, a supplement here and there and one food storage/bulk item.

I shop at our local health food store, Good Earth or Wholefoods, and the
rest I buy some bulk organic at Costco. Costco is coming around and offering all kinds of organic options which I am grateful for:)

I suggest meal planning each week. That will help keep things simple and help keep you at budget.

So breaking it down, that is $1.90/person per meal.

I think it is well worth it to feed ourselves and our families clean and well and it’s not as pricey as you may think. Once you start leaving loads of meat, processed foods and snacks off of your grocery list, that frees up money for better options. But if you’re trying to do both, that will be very expensive.

If you have questions I would happily help you on your journey in growing, shopping and cooking with Real Foods:) Just email me your questions: ashley@phmlife.com.

Keeping Teeth Clean, Naturally.

Taking care of kidlets and your family is a big responsibility. What to feed them, how to teach values and all the choices you make for them and help them learn to make for themselves. One aspect is personal hygiene and I started wondering about household hygiene products such as lotions, shampoo, toothpaste, detergent and other items I was using. Especially when I and my kids seemed to be very sensitive souls.

One product I found and loved is Redmond’s Earthpaste toothpaste. Other shelf toothpastes have chemicals and ingredients I didn't understand and fluoride was always argued about. I loved the simplicity of the ingredients. Its base being a mineral clay with a myriad of mineral salts with clays natural ability to remove acids and its organic natural oils for flavor...and they have a kids friendly flavor! I personally love the peppermint. I feel you can't go wrong when you understand the ingredients of what you choose to use with your families.

We’re new to the Color Earth Mineral Mouthwash, but family family loves it. The kids like it, it’s nto alcohol free, and it leaves my mouth feeling minty fresh and clean. I like the that it has silver in it for killing bacteria.
